From simon evans at 2006-01-15 20:48:15 : hi glenn,no more track remains in the tunnel, and it is gated off from the general public, however,i think it is now used by the national grid to carry electric cables under the woodhead pass. The original twin bores definately do and have a narrow gauge track running thru them with their own little loco's.type in woodhead route on google, there is some good info to be found, have fun searching!
From Rob's Photo Pages at 2006-01-17 17:49:09 : There have been a couple of proposals to re-open the line in the last 10 years. One involved using it as a freight route for traffic to the Channel Tunnel. The other, which involved re-opening it to passengers, was included in Arriva's bid for the Trans Pennine Express franchise.
